REVOLUTION: DeWalt XR FlexVolt technology

13.09.2016

In the last few months we have witnessed a true revolution in the field of cordless tools, when DeWalt launched a convertible 18/54 V “XR Flexvolt” battery. It is completely compatible with the existing 18 V models, yet it has the option to increase its voltage to 54 V. Yes, you read it correctly – up to entire 54 V! From this day on, you can perform the equally challenging tasks that required the power that, up until now, only corded tools provided, but with the freedom and mobility of the cordless tools, not having to bother with the cables.

Over the decades, cordless tools have been gradually updated, optimizing the ratio of power source independence to the power produced. DeWalt recognized the frustration brought upon the users by the existing batteries, and strived to develop the “XR Flexvolt” technology that will put an end to all limitation. This concept gives double advantage to the users: 1) the duration of the battery no other model can come close to; 2) the power of corded tools, unimaginable with any other battery powered model. With this innovation, DeWalt realized the full potential of battery technology, offering the users a unique possibility to perform even the most demanding construction jobs without necessity for the electricity supply.

There will be 8 tools available in the market that are powered by the groundbreaking “XR Flexvolt” battery: angle grinder, SDS+ hammer drill, circular saw, alligator saw, reciprocating saw, plunge saw, miter saw, table saw. All of these have a battery voltage of the stunning 54 V, which gives them power, capacity and precision of the equivalent corded tools. In order for you to fully grasp the significance of this innovation, we will mention that the table saw with the 54 V “XR Flexvolt” battery can cut 92 meters of 19 mm OSB board with only one charge!  This kind of performance indicates that we have entered a new era of battery powered tools.
