(VIDEO) Angle grinders

24.06.2016

Grinder is an electric tool used for grinding, as well as cutting. According to the drive, they can be electric or pneumatic. By operation manner, they are divided into angle grinder, orbital sanders, belt sanders and straight grinders. Of all mentioned, the angle grinder is most commonly used, and the following text contains more information about it.

The first angle grinder was produced in 1954 by our German partner FLEX (back in the day known as Ackermann+Schmitt), and this is the reason why many local users of this tool call it “flekserica” (a derivative from the name of the company FLEX), disregarding the producer.

Today, the grinder is an essential tool for every craftsman, whether one is a carpenter, locksmith, painter, stonecutter, tiler…. The so-called “small” grinders are used most commonly, and they use grinding discs, with diameter 115 or 125mm. We offer small grinders from 500-600W, which are used for sharpening the cutting tools or as secondary handy tools, and we also have very powerful grinders, from 1200 – 1500W, which are used by locksmiths, stonecutters…. Aside from great power, they are characterized by high rotation speed of grinding discs, up to 11.000 rpm.

Widely present are also so called “large” angle grinders which use grinding/various discs diameter 180 and 230 mm. We offer a range of 1900-2000 W large grinders, which are used for cutting thinner materials and small grinding jobs, to those very powerful with 2600 W power, used for more challenging cutting and grinding jobs. Grinding disc rpm for grinders with 230mm disc is 6.500, and for those with 180mm disc is 8500 rpm.

What should be emphasized is that the grinder is a very dangerous tool and that is why it is necessary to follow all rules and norms during use, as well as wear protective equipment, like gloves, safety glasses, etc.

Aside from basic characteristics, the grinders also differ by the additional equipment, functions, which are often the guideline for the type of grinder we should buy:

o   KickBack Stop: detects the disc block and automatically shuts down the tool

o   Restart Protection: restart protection prevents the tool to automatically start after power outage.
